For Buddhism, the Sakura or cherry tree symbolizes divinity and fleeting nature in life. It is associated with vital periods of transformation.

Every March, the cherry blossom is short and fleeting. Millions of people take their free time to go out to parks, temples and roadsides to watch the explosion of sakura blossoms. They enjoy what they call “Hanami” or “the act of beholding blossoms”.

However, there is a variety of Sakura known as “Jugatsuzakura”, which means “October sakura”. Unlike the others, this variety of cherry blossoms in autumn and winter with sparse and smaller flowers. It blends the autumn colours with the white of winter snow.
